Drum roll please…
My student loans now start with a ONE!
Now, this isn’t the first time my loans have started with a 1. But it’s the first time they’ve started with a 1 and not had another 5 digits after it.
I’ve taken out approximately $138,000 in student loans in my little life. That’s, um, a lot. I’ve never had that much debt at once, because I started paying off the first ones before I took out more.
As of today, my loans are down to $19,990. Yes, that’s still a lot. There are a few places in this country where that would buy a house. But it’s still a heck of a lot less than it was! There’s something really comforting about that first number changing – like I’m in a new era.
I would really, really, really love to get them down under $10,000 in the next 4 weeks. That’s a possibility, since I’ll be selling my car during that time and have a few paychecks and other payments coming in. Is it certain? So much no. But it’s possible.
Get off me, loans. Get. Off. Me.
